FURNITURE SUCCESS BY DESIGN FOR SPACEWAYSpaceway has launched a specialist office furniture service in the best possible fashion - by winning a £400,000 contract.

Spaceway, one of the UK's leading providers of integrated interior space solutions, has been appointed by a Woking company to plan a new office lay-out and supply 150 work stations, break-out areas and storage equipment.

The contract follows Romsey-based Spaceway's signing of distribution deals with six major furniture suppliers as part of its move into total space fit-out.

" We have grown considerably as a company of the last few years - and many of the businesses we have worked with have grown with us," says Dominic O'Brien, Spaceway Sales Director.

" Customers were increasingly looking to us to extend our operation into furniture planning and supply and we have now set up a dedicated unit, complete with a specialist space planner.

" We have been steadily moving to a position where we can offer a 'single source' solution to all our customer requirements - storage, racking, mezzanine floors, partitioning.... everything that a business needs to maximise the return on their space investment."

Spaceway is supplying furniture from six companies, so providing a wide range of styles. Among them is Babini, an Italian manufacturer - and it is this furniture, together with Triumph storage equipment, that is being used in the Woking project.

" We believe the time is right to expand our activity in this area," says Dominic O'Brien. " We are committing considerably resources to this service, including taking on an interior design graduate - Sarah Fenn - to lead the space planning activity."

Spaceway has also invested in the latest computer design technology that enables designs to be sent as data files direct to customers and at the same time on-line links have been established with suppliers to streamline deliveries.

" Our experience in helping companies get maximum return on their available space makes this concerted move into interior office planning and furniture supply a natural extension of our activities."

The new service augments Spaceway's expertise in a number of areas, including the design and fit-out of executive suites, reception areas, warehouses, factories and retail outlets.

Recent contracts include the complete fit-out of the Mothercare headquarters building in Watford.
