Specially modified metal skin partitioning completed a fit out by Romsey based Spaceway at bespoke premises in Eastleigh for US owned Pratt & Whitney. The company is a leader in the design, manufacture and support of engines for commercial, military and general aviation aircraft, and space propulsion systems. The nature of the work carried out by Pratt & Whitney required the installation of metal skin partitioning at the new site at Eastleigh Airport, to create a temperature controlled environment with sound insulation. Spaceway worked with other contractors to ensure a fast installation. Ground floor and workshop partitioning systems were modified for the purpose, with a mixture of low level, 10 ft, 12 ft and 14 ft metal skin roofs and suspended ceilings. "The machines in use at the site have to operate in a temperature controlled environment, sometimes in sound controlled rooms, so we used the double steel skin partitioning with sound proof panels and double steel skinned, suspended ceilings," comments Peter Upton from Spaceway. "We had to work quickly to enable the company to move on target from their Portsmouth site to the new premises." Ends For further information,
